Kutaisi to Batumi: bus, train or taxi from the airport, and back

Updated 4 November 2026

Kutaisi airport is about 150 km from Batumi, and the simplest way between them is the Georgian Bus coach timed to flights: 30 lari, 2 hours, from the door of the arrivals hall to Batumi's New Bus Station. The train costs 31 lari and takes 1 hour 24 minutes, but in November it runs only twice a day from a station 1.8 km from the terminal. Minibuses leave only from Kutaisi city, and a taxi or private transfer is about 150–250 lari per car. Prices and times are as of November 2026.

Kutaisi handles more passengers than Batumi, about 1.4 million against 995,000 in January–September 2025, because most low-cost flights from Europe land there. That is why so many trips to Batumi start with this road.

Georgian Bus: timed to your flight

Georgian Bus runs direct from the exit in front of the arrivals hall to Batumi's New Bus Station, at 11 Giorgi Tsabadze Street (formerly Gogol Street), platform 14. The timetable gives exactly two hours. An adult ticket is 30 ₾ and a child ticket 20 ₾; babies under 2 travel free on a lap.

There is no fixed daily timetable, because the buses follow the flights. The company's schedule shows which flights each bus meets. For 5–11 November 2026 it looks like this:

Not every bus runs every day, so look up your date on the Georgian Bus schedule.

Tickets. Online sales on georgianbus.com close two hours before departure, and only online tickets let you choose a seat. After that you can buy at the Georgian Bus desk inside the airport or on the bus, by cash or card, if seats remain.

If your flight is late. The bus may move its departure, and your ticket stays valid for the new time, though your chosen seat may not be kept. The company asks passengers to check the schedule 12 hours before departure. If the flight is cancelled, you get a full refund by writing to info@georgianbus.com. Otherwise a cancellation costs 30 % of the fare, and you can change the date once, up to 24 hours before departure.

Luggage. One travel bag and one backpack go in the hold, plus one small piece of hand luggage in the cabin. An extra bag costs 20–25 ₾.

The train: cheap and quick, but only twice a day

Trains 802 and 804 from Tbilisi stop at Kutaisi International Airport station at 10:42 and 19:47 and reach Batumi Central at 12:06 and 21:11. A second-class seat is 31 ₾ and first class 67 ₾ (gr.com.ge, search for 10 November 2026). Buy on gr.com.ge or at the Georgian Railway desk in the arrivals hall.

The station is 1.8 km from the terminal, and the airport says shuttle buses take passengers there free of charge. Allow time for that: a flight landing an hour before the train is too tight. In summer there are more trains; georgia.travel counts five a day against three off-season, while the railway's own search showed two for this date.

Note that the railway's search shows no direct train from Kutaisi I, the station in the city, to Batumi on that date. From the city, use the minibus or go out to the airport station.

Minibus: only from the city

Marshrutkas leave from Kutaisi central bus station, not from the airport: about 20 ₾ and 2.5 hours, every 30–60 minutes from 06:30 to about 19:30 (Wander-Lush, August 2026). To reach the bus station from the airport, Bolt costs about 25–30 ₾. For one person who has just landed, the direct coach is both simpler and about the same price.

Taxi and private transfer

georgia.travel gives about 150 ₾ as the average taxi fare, while transfers with a fixed price booked online start from about 200–240 ₾ per car (GoTrip, Wanderin). For three or four people with luggage that is close to the cost of bus tickets, and you can stop on the way. Agree the price before you get in. Bolt operates in Georgia and shows the fare before you confirm, so compare it in the app when you land.

Landing at night

Flights from Barcelona, Milan, Brussels, Paris and other cities land around midnight or later, and the coach meets them: it leaves at about 01:30–02:30 and reaches Batumi at 03:30–04:30. No train or minibus runs at that hour, so the alternative is a taxi or a pre-booked transfer.

Standard check-in in our studios is from 15:00, so if you land at night, book from the previous date and the studio will be ready when you arrive. Tell us your flight and we will help you plan.

Georgian Bus lists the flights each departure serves, so choose by the city your flight goes to. Be at the stop 20 minutes before departure: the company says it does not wait for late passengers. A marshrutka from Batumi goes to Kutaisi city (about 20 ₾), not to the airport.

Our studios after the road

Our two studios are on the 33rd floor of Blue Sky Tower, across the street from Black Sea Mall. Bolt from Batumi Central takes about 10 minutes. Each has a kitchen, a washing machine and a door code instead of a reception, so a late arrival is simple. You book directly with us on this site: see the studios.
